According to London market-research firm Ovum, the ringtone industry should reach $6.5 billion in sales for 2008, which means a lot of people are paying for ringtones. But there are still many websites which offer free ringtones. What many website owners have done is put together an assortment of free ringtones. So what you will find here is all those sites which offer free ringtones which concomitantly offer pay-for-ringtones, and sites which offer free ringtones only.
For 2008, the ringtone industry is expected to produce revenue which is greater then sales expected for CD singles. The ringtone industry is expected to continue to grow, and those companies which offer pay-for-ringtones, in many cases offer free ringtones. Here you will find the results of our research, with each listing containing a thumbnail image of the site, a link to the site, and a description. The ringtones found on these sites may be monophonic (single note), polyphonic (multiple note), or truetone (song excerpts). So if you are seeking ringtones for free, then this site should be useful.
Most people want to incorporate ringtones into their cell phone as quickly and as easily as possible. The method you use to get ringtones into your cell phone depends on your cell phone type. The three most common methods are as follows:
* After downloading the ringtone program to your computer, place it into the cell phone by using a cable.
* The ringtone can be sent over the airwaves from the source to your cell phone.
* You can type the ringtone program on your cell phone keypad directly.
Getting free ringtones is not quite as easy as it was even a few years ago. Infrared transfer, Bluetooth, Memory card transfer or USB cable can all allow free ringtone download from a computer to a cell phone. Many services exist on the Internet that provide what they call “free ringtones”, but you need to pay a fee per month. A common fee is about $10.00 per month. But these are not really free, and therefore we tried our best to screen these out of our directory, although some of these may have slipped through.
Some websites allow you to make your own ringtones for free, and because these are truely free, they have been included in our ringtones for free directory. We tried to include sites which allow for easy transfer of ringtones to your cell phone.
When selecting a ringtone, make sure to check for compatibility with your particular cell phone. The industry is not at a point where all ringtones are compatible with all phones.
The following is our current directory of ringtones for free. This list will be updated frequently. If you own a website which offers free ringtones, and you are not listed here, please let us know via email (by going to our “About” page), and we will include your site on the list. Don’t forget to include your URL when contacting us. There is no particular order for the sites placed on the list, simply because placing them in say alphabetical order really serves no benefit to the reader, since most readers will simply browse the pages of our directory.
